Etape Caledonia releases its final batch of 2022 places

With demand for live events surging as the UK continues to recover from the pandemic, LimeLight Sports Club has announced the release of a final batch of places for this year’s Etape Caledonia which returns to Pitlochry on Sunday 15th May.

The announcement signals that thousands of cyclists from all over the UK are now expected to head to Pitlochry this May. It also confirms the return of the UK’s original closed road cycling event, and what will be Etape Caledonia’s 15th Birthday, to its traditional May timing, the first to take place since 2019.

The challenging 85 mile route is popular with road cyclists of all abilities. Over the years the event has attracted sporting legends, celebrities and even Hollywood superstars to tackle its steep climbs, to be rewarded with breath-taking views of the Scottish Highlands, and the still silence of closed roads.

The event is also expected to provide a significant boost to the hard-hit tourism economy of Highland Perthshire which will be welcome new to local businesses. Hotels, guest houses and restaurants in the region are now rapidly gearing up for the influx of thousands of cycling enthusiasts and their families.

James Robinson, managing director at LimeLight Sports Club, said:

“Etape Caledonia is a really fantastic event and demand for places has been extremely strong this year as major events return to normality. For those who still want to take part this year the last batch of places has now been released and I’d urge you to secure your place, we’re expecting them to be snapped up quickly.

“I am really looking forward to returning to Highland Perthshire in May and celebrating our 15th birthday with all our participants. We’ve seen a high uptake of charity fundraising places this year and I’d really like to appeal to even more participants to consider raising funds for Marie Curie and Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance. Charities have had a difficult couple of years and every penny raised for them is vitally important. We’re delighted to be able to support Marie Curie and Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance in their fundraising efforts.”
