Climate Emergency Response Group

The Cunningly Good Group has worked with the Climate Emergency Response Group (CERG) since 2021, providing communications support and helping to raise the group’s profile and influence within the Scottish Government and with key stakeholders.

In 2024, CERG asked us to help support their work throughout the year. This included the design of their latest report in October 2024: ‘Stepping up to Delivery’, which highlighted Scotland’s failure to meet its climate targets, with slow progress in critical sectors like heat, transport, and agriculture. The report emphasised the need for stronger leadership, a whole government approach, improved governance and greater stakeholder engagement to accelerate climate action. Suggested approaches are outlined in the report.

The Cunningly Good Group created a LinkedIn page and social media assets for CERG, and the report was officially launched on social media via CERG’s Linkedin page and shared by members of the group via their own social media. The launch was also supported by an opinion piece in The Herald.

Following on from the launch of the report, in November 2024 we organised and managed a successful stakeholder event at the Bank of Scotland headquarters at The Mound, Edinburgh, attended by over 70 stakeholders. The aim of the event was to present CERG’s report and generate feedback from open discussions on why delivery isn’t happening fast enough, proven approaches to facilitate effective delivery and examining how these approaches could be used across government and agreeing how attendees can move forward together effectively.

The report, available via CERG’s website, is managed and hosted by the Cunningly Good Group.
